We’re planning a fun, hands-on indoor event designed to bring artists together, share knowledge, and make it easier for beginners to get started in plein air painting which is free to attend. Setup begins around 12:00 noon for easel displays and sale tables. Advertising: Facebook Marketplace and Free EventBrite.
This event includes several simple, engaging components:
Volunteers will display their plein air setups—showing how they paint in their chosen medium.
Set up your easel or stool with your supplies
Label your setup so others can learn what it is and where to get one, when they take photos.
Optional: give a short demonstration
👉 Many people want to try plein air but don’t know where to begin—this makes it approachable.
Optional:
You may offer your setup for sale, just add a price sticker with your name.
If possible, keep display easels on display until later in the afternoon.
Helpful handouts will be available for beginners. Volunteer to provide one on the interactive sheet below.
Lists of recommended supplies by medium
Suggestions for both budget-friendly and artist-grade options
👉 These will also be shared on the website after the event.
A simple, organized way to buy and sell gently used, new or like new art supplies.
Every item needs a sticker with price plus seller name. To price your item, looking at marketplace or ebay is a good idea. Remember that your price should be high enough to include a 10% donation by the seller if the sale is made.
Easels for sale or as demos, should be set up either indoors or outdoors. Include a short description of the easel and its usage, such as Coulter easel, ideal for oil painting, used two seasons, good condition, new retail value and your price.
Other art supplies are displayed on tables for easy browsing with your price and name.
Sellers must be present to accept the sale of easels and art materials directly from the buyer, by cash, check or other means, unless you have made special arrangement with another member.
