Art Classes at Blandy
Art classes are occasionally offered at the Virginia State Arboretum (Blandy), providing a wonderful opportunity to learn in a beautiful, natural setting.
Open to both members and the public
Typically held on weekends
Taught by local and visiting artists

Perspective for Artists
Watercolor Botanicals
A live watercolor demo in the wetlands
These were led by Blandy Sketch Group member and president, Elena Maza Borland.
Upcoming Series
A four-part series on Chinese Brush Painting will be offered by Ruth Ward throughout 2026.
One Saturday per month during summer (June–September)

Interested in Teaching?
We welcome instructors who would like to teach at Blandy.
You do not need to be an NSPA member
Visiting instructors are warmly welcome
Presentation tools (projectors, screens) are available
Convenient parking is provided for instructors
👉 Both studio and plein air classes are encouraged.
Planning a Class
If you’re interested in teaching:
Coordinate your date to avoid conflicts with NSPA events
Submit a facilities request through Blandy
Let us know once your class is approved so we can help promote it
